Springback Compensation in High-Strength Materials
Why springback increases with material strength and the compensation techniques we apply on CNC press brakes.

Springback is the elastic recovery of material after bending. High-strength steels and half-hard stainless grades exhibit noticeably more springback than mild steel.
Overbending Strategy
The simplest compensation is overbending by the expected springback angle, derived from test bends on each material batch.
Bottoming and Coining
For critical angles, bottoming applies higher tonnage to set the angle, reducing springback to near zero at the cost of tool wear.
In-Process Measurement
Angle sensors integrated in the press brake enable closed-loop correction bend by bend, essential for long production runs.
