A Practical DFM Checklist for Sheet Metal Designers

Design for Manufacturability reviews catch costly issues before tooling begins. This checklist covers the points we check on every new drawing.

Geometry Rules

• Inside bend radius at least equal to material thickness
• Holes at least 2.5x thickness from bend lines
• Flange length at least 4x thickness plus radius

Tolerance Discipline

Specify tight tolerances only on functional interfaces. General tolerances per ISO 2768-m keep parts affordable.

Early Collaboration

Sharing 3D models early allows our engineers to suggest feature adjustments that reduce setups and improve repeatability.
