When 304 Is Enough

For indoor equipment, dry environments and general structural parts, 304 offers excellent corrosion resistance and formability at lower cost.

When to Specify 316L

Coastal installations, chemical exposure and semiconductor wet processes demand 316L, whose molybdenum content resists pitting from chlorides.

Fabrication Notes

Both grades work-harden quickly; 316L requires slightly higher bending force and careful weld cleaning to preserve corrosion resistance.
